FAQ’s
How do I book and secure my due date?
Booking is simple! To get started, you can reach out to me HERE. Once we’ve connected and you’re ready to move forward, we’ll fill out the client intake form, sign a contract and secure your date with a deposit. From that moment, I’m officially on call for your due date, ready to witness and document your birth journey. I’ll stay in touch as your due date approaches to ensure everything is aligned and you feel fully supported.
Do you travel outside the Comox Valley?
Yes! While I’m based in the Comox Valley, I can travel to surrounding towns and communities for births. Please keep in mind that travel time may impact how quickly I can arrive at your place of birth, and there may be some locations that are too far for me to travel. We can discuss your location ahead of time to make sure I can be there to capture your birth day.
Do you offer payment plans?
Absolutely! I believe every family should have the opportunity to capture these once-in-a-lifetime moments, regardless of income. If needed, I can set up a flexible payment plan to make your package more manageable. We can discuss options when you book, so you can feel comfortable and supported throughout the process.
What happens if I have an unplanned cesarean section?
C-section births are every bit as beautiful and powerful as any other birth story. No matter how your baby enters the world, your journey deserves to be remembered. If your birth plan shifts and you need a cesarean, I’ll be with you for as much of it as I’m allowed to be. If you transfer to the hospital, I’ll stay with you as long as possible; and if I’m permitted in the operating room, I’ll quietly capture those sacred first moments. If I’m not allowed inside, I’ll stay nearby until I can see you again, whether that’s in recovery or your postpartum room, to photograph those tender first hours of meeting your baby.
What happens if I miss the birth?
Birth is beautifully unpredictable and sometimes babies just have their own timeline! When I’m on call, I’m always prepared and ready to go at a moment’s notice. If your labor happens so quickly that I miss the actual delivery, I’ll still come to your place of birth right away to document as much of your story as I can. If I’ve missed too much, I’m happy to offer a second session for you later; whether that’s a Fresh 48, an intimate motherhood session, or a cozy family session once you’ve settled in.
How graphic will the photos be?
That’s completely up to you. Every family has a different comfort level when it comes to how much of the birth process they want captured, and I’ll always respect your wishes. Some clients want every powerful, raw detail of their baby’s arrival documented, while others prefer a more modest, story-focused approach that highlights emotion and connection.
Before your birth, we’ll chat about your preferences so I have a clear understanding of what feels right for you. Whether that means keeping things intimate and subtle, or capturing it all, in all its realness and beauty. My goal is to tell your story in a way that feels authentic, empowering, and completely aligned with your comfort level.
Will you share my photos online?
Your privacy is incredibly important to me, and I’ll always respect it. I’ll never share or post your images without your explicit permission. Most families love being able to share their story proudly, but you’ll always have full control and final approval before anything is made public. Nothing will ever be shared before you’ve had a chance to make your own announcement. Click HERE for more information on my Privacy & Image Use Statement.
Can we request specific shots or moments?
Yes! I love hearing what moments are most meaningful to you and I can absolutely take your requests into account. That said, birth is unpredictable and I can’t guarantee specific shots. My focus is on being a calm, unobtrusive witness, capturing the natural flow, strength and love of your birth journey while keeping your wishes in mind wherever possible.
Can we have a birth plan for the photography?
Definitely. Your birth, your rules. I’ll always respect your birth plan, boundaries, and comfort levels. We can discuss in advance what you’d like photographed, any moments you prefer to keep private and how I can support your vision while staying a quiet, respectful presence. My goal is to honour your space while capturing the strength, love and magic of your birth journey.
